Helen, Paul Gran Canaria - Puerto Rico - Sol y Paz
To say this hotel is basic is an understatement, but what can I expect for a holiday for a week that cost £250 for 2 of us. Even though the hotel was basic, it was clean and tidy. Furniture could do with a bit of refreshment but if you are going on holiday to pick fly's out of the hotel go to a 4star. This is prefect if you want a base to just put your head down at the end of the night.  Puerto Rico is a great base as there are some very good restaurants and bars. A very good holiday with basic accommodation at a price that was not going to break the bank.
Stephen, Eve and Son Stephen Gran Canaria - Maspalomas Hotel Cay Beach Meloneras
Booked this through Sunset Holidays and flew from Birmingham with Thomas Cook. The hotel was very nice, in a quiet area and only a very short walk to the beach, restaurants, nightlife and shops of the main resort area of Maspalomas. The hotel had its own hotel kids club which was good for our 6 year old. The room was very big and plenty of space to put our cases and everything else. The resort is nice but the English seemed to be in a minority, with a lot of Dutch and German holiday makers, although at the hotel we only encountered English guests. On the 1 occasion we did need the services of a Sunset holidays rep, they were there (out of hour) with an hour. Sunset holidays really did help make this an enjoyable week for our summer holiday. Would like to come back again to the same hotel in a couple of years.
Paul S Lanzarote - Sun Park Apartments - Playa Blanca
Stayed at the hotel for a week, the weather was good and had a good time. We went with Sunset holiday on a self catering basis this year, as previously we had been on all inclusive at the Sun Park. This time we ventured out about to the local seafront restaurants in Playa Blanca and although sometimes the food was a bit pricey it was worth it - you get what you pay for anyway the same as here, if you basic try a burger from Burger King. The hotel is only about 500m from Playa Dorada beach and not very far to the centre of Playa Blanca for the nightlife. The pool was a freeform and was cleaned regularly. The hotel has a supermarket which was not that expensive. The towels were only changed and couple of times as standard during the stay so take your own, or do what the other guest did and complain to the sunset holidays rep, this will get you another fresh set. All in all a very pleasant holiday and if the prices stay cheap and I still get a free kids place next year I will go back again.
Adam Lanzarote - Ficus Apartments - Costa Teguise
First time all inclusive, chose the Ficus Apartments in Lanzarote because the reviews were not that bad. 2 weeks with nothing to worry about and all the food and drinks that the kids wanted. Very good hotel based entertainment team that kept the kids and adults busy.  The room was nice and clean and our apartment even had a fridge. If you get a chance do go and see the reps show, held on a Monday. The only complaint I would have about the whole holiday was the area around the pool can become very slippy, but once you are aware it is ok.
Mears Family Lanzarote - Ficus Apartments - Costa Teguise
Ficus Apartment, all inclusive holiday, decent food although a bit repetitive if their for 2 weeks. Decent sized pool with entertainment throughout the day. Not a bad hotel, good for a base to explore the rest of Lanzarote, and there are some good trips to go on, and always found the Thomas Cook organised tours give me a bit more peace of mind that just going on spec. Would go back the Ficus again.
Summer Family Lanzarote - Apartments Punta Jablillo- Costa Teguise
Cheap apartments and a cheap holiday, 1 week only cost £219. If you are expecting a classy hotel then this is not for you, it is very basic. It also seemed to be very expensive, but only stayed their as a base. The good parts about the hotel are that is is close to the beach and the shops and restaurants. The apartment was a good size and was cleaned every other day
Dave Lanzarote - Lanzarote Paradise Club Apartments - Costa Teguise
Nice hotel, close to the waterpark. The hotel has a nice sized pool with plenty of sun loungers for all the guests. The bars in the hotel seemed to be expensive, so we decided to drink and eat outside of the hotel. Would go back to hotel again as it was clean, but next time take a bit more money.
The English's Fuerteventura - Dunas Alisos Apartments - Corralejo
Dunas Alisios - great weeks holiday, just chilling by the pool. Nice clean room with decent self catering facilities. The hotel has its own restaurant on site, and as we had only booked self catering we upgraded whilst at the hotel to half board, which please the wife. The food was served buffet style with plenty of choice and good value for money. Plenty of things to do with a loveley sandy beach. Well worth the money and a great holiday made even better by the Sunset reps at the hotel.
David Fuerteventura - Villa Florida Apartments. August
Just had a wonderful week away, close to the beach, with shops and bars close by. coin operated tv was a bit expensive, but did not go on holiday to watch tv, plenty of sunshine, booze was cheap, food was ok. Will return again, August 2009
